Interview with Allysin Chaynes - October 24, 2000
Phone Interview
Pornstarempire.com: Where are you from?
Allysin: I'm from the Valley. I grew up in California.
Q: How did you get started in the adult business?
Allysin: I started in the business by answering an ad from Randy West with my boyfriend. We just went in for an interview and within a week, we did our first video!
Q: How do you feel when you watch yourself perform?
Allysin: I don't know, it's kind of weird, sometimes I guess I think, "Oh God, why did I do that?...."
Q: Like what?
Allysin: I mean, I can tell if I wasn't into it, and I think, "God, I should have at least faked it."
Q: But you don't feel embarrassed or bummed out about it?
Allysin: Not unless I did something stupid. Not really, it's just like watching - me, I guess.
Q: Would you say that you enjoy the business?
Allysin: Yeah - there's negatives and positives to it, just like any other business.
Q: What do you like about it?
Allysin: I think the money...the sex can be good too - sometimes the person is not somebody you would pick in your personal life. My opinion is, we need more good-looking guys in the industry. I'm pretty picky, as far as who I work with, and it's really hard sometimes to even find anybody that I would actually do it with.
Q: Well, check this out: When I was dancing in Van Nuys, Tony Tedeschi came into the club. It was funny, cause he was with his friend, who kept saying, "Don't you know who this is?!" But I didn't. So Tony explained who he was and he asked me out, but I had a boyfriend at the time and I was being really good. Now that I have this job, I have to watch all this porn and I'm like, "OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T GO OUT WITH THAT GUY!!"
Allysin: Yeah, I've actually worked with him - I forget what it was for. Somebody recommended him to me, like, "Oh, you should work with this guy, he's really good-looking," and he is, and he's a cool guy and stuff, but he's too big for me.
Q: No kidding.
Allysin: Yeah.
Q: I don't have that problem - I've never said those words.
Allysin: I'm pretty small...it's really hard for me to work with people that are too big - so there's another issue that people probably don't consider...and sometimes it's really long hours. On average it's about three to twelve hours for a shoot.
Q: Your body looks like a dancer's body, do you dance?
Allysin: I used to work at Bob's Classy Lady for about seven months, two years ago, then I quit. But I do bachelor parties with Keri Windsor, she's got her own company called, "Allure". She's a real cool girl, and it's choreographed bachelor parties.
Q: You don't feature?
Allysin: Not yet. I'm planning on doing that next year.
Q: I thought "Kelly the Coed 1" was more fun than erotic - consuming the and pizza while fucking - what do you think?
Allysin: I agree with you on that, it's not like trying to be all sexy - it's just a cute girl, going around the school, fucking all the guys. I think it's fun.
Q: I thought Professor Schwartz in "Kelly the Coed 1" was a very funny character. What would you say about working with Hershcel Savage?
Allysin: Oh, he's really cool guy, he's funny, he's pretty easy to work...and I think he's a pretty good actor. He can really improvise well. I like him.
Q: You're very cute and you're not bad at acting - why pornography and not mainstream?
Allysin: My real love was for regular acting. That's what I wanted to do, and I tried going into it when I was younger but...as far as being a kid trying to make it, you really need the support of your parents or somebody to take you to these auditions and my parents worked and didn't really have time. And also I was more shy back then...this industry kinda helps me come out of that more. It is kind of good practice in a way. Even though the lines are kinda cheesey, sometimes you get roles where they want you to be serious, be like a vixen....
Q: I think you handle your dialogue very well.
Allysin: I'm still interested in mainstream.
Q: But do you see that as a problem, with the stigma of porn?
Allysin: I'm sure that it is a problem, but the mainstream industry also seems to be going in a sexier direction....When you see billboards now, they're already half-naked.
Maybe they won't be as weird about it in the future.
Q: I found "Kelly the Coed 2" to be hotter than "Kelly the Coed 1". Would you agree?
Allysin: The first one I did the anal with the DP, right? And then the second one I did the anal with the girls, with the toy.... The one with the guys was my first anal, ever.
Q: Ever, in life?
Allysin: Yeah, I mean I attempted it a few times before at home, but....
Q: So how did you do that?
Allysin: I don't know. I just didn't look in the direction where all the frat guys were standing and just tried to relax.... A couple times it was painful and I had to stop...but I got through it and was pretty proud of myself. I don't do anal anymore cause it was too unpredictable for me. One time it would be okay, and the next time it would be way too painful. The second one with the girls was even more painful than the first, I mean it was just a toy, but it was still really hurting.
Q: Well, you're a pretty tiny girl.
Allysin: I'm just not into the whole anal thing yet.
Q: How did you tell your family about what you're doing?
Allysin: I didn't tell them - they kind of just found out, on their own.... My sister knew for a long time...she was also getting into some bondage type things around the same time as I was, so since she was found out by my parents, she chose to tell them what I did, or steer them toward the internet or something, because the last time I talked to my mom, she had seen the internet.... We haven't spoken for a year now.
Q: That sucks.
Allysin: Yeah, it does. Cause I don't think that I've changed, I still treat people the same way. I'm a nice person, and it's just what I do for a living. It has nothing to do with who I really am.
Q: Is your mom particularly religious?
No, they're not religious at all really. They're just conservative, and they have certain things they want their kids to do.
Q: How old are you?
Allysin: 21. I was 18 when I started out.
Q: Do you prefer to perform with men or women?
Allysin: I'd say men. I do like men better. I like women too. I'd say I've done as many videos with women as with men. It just depends, sometimes it can be a boring scene with a girl there's not as much to do, sometimes it feels like there's something missing. But then again if you really like the girl, sometimes it can be just as fun.
Q: You look like a little girl, would this keep you from buying bigger tits?
Allysin: [Laughs]. ...I know I look like a little girl...
Q: Are you attached to your appeal on that level?
Allysin: Yeah, I am. I know a lot of fans don't want me to do this, but I'm pretty ready to do it now, to go on to the next step. I've been in the little girl image for a long time now, but for myself, personally, I've always wanted bigger boobs, and I do plan to get a boob job. I know a lot of people will be pissed off at me for this, but I don't plan to go too big.
Q: When are you doing this?
Allysin: I am doing it this year, really soon....
Q: What would you say is you're best asset onscreen?
Allysin: Well, somebody told me this - another performer, a guy...said that I'm innocent, but I can give this look like I'm not at the same time. I guess that's hard to describe, but...I think that's true because if I'm feeling something inside, I can tell you with my face.
Q: What's the significance of your stage name? Are you a major Alice in Chains fan?
Allysin: The truth about my name is that I went to school with a girl named Allysin, and I always liked her name, so I wanted Allysin to be my first name, and when I worked for Randy West,...he's really good at making up funny names. We were gonna pick "Wonderland" at first...but we thought we might get in trouble. So we picked Chaynes, like the band....
I actually met the band, but it was at a real mainstream event, so I didn't want to tell them and have them to say it too loud. So I just told them I was Allysin. He thought that was really cool, so I guess he would have flipped out if I'd told him the whole thing....
Q: What are your relationships with the other actresses like? Do many of the girls have similar backgrounds?
Allysin: I think I get along with people pretty well. I'm basically like, if you're nice to me, I'm nice to you, even if you're a bitch.... If I don't like them, I just stay away from them. As far as similar backgrounds, some girls were like geeks in high school, and now they've turned around, or some girls say they love sex, they've always been into it, and this was a good way for them to have sex all the time and make money. A lot of girls have just been on their own for a long time and needed the money.
Q: Do most girls have their shit together?
Allysin: I don't think a lot of girls are as stable as I am. A lot of them don't live in the same place for a long time - they move around a lot, change their boyfriends a lot.... I kind of maintain a normal life.
Q: Do you see a lot of activity associated with the business?
Allysin: I know a lot of people smoke pot. As far as other , I know a lot of people do [them]...but I can't say everybody does. There are some bad seeds in the crowd, but there are a lot of good people too.
Q: Normal people?
Allysin: I wouldn't say "normal." I think anybody who gets into this business...has some issues.
Q: What would be your issue?
Allysin: Just, I guess I'm just looking for something to do in my life. I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do...and in the meantime I want to make good money....When I got into it though I didn't think about the fact that my face would be out there forever, I didn't think about the consequences.
Q: How do you feel about it now?
Allysin: In a way I wish I would have thought about it a little harder.
Q: What clouded your vision?
Allysin: Well, the fact that I was looking for a job at the time and I wanted something that would pay well. Everything that pays really well you have to have experience or a degree, and I was actually just finishing up high school, and I didn't think I would do any more videos at the time, but things got sort of bad at home, and I chose to move out and I needed a job really quick and this industry was an easy way to go.
Q: Will you go back to school?
Allysin: I am in school.... I'm becoming certified to become a personal trainer...and that's just like a side job that I want to have, but I really want to become a nutritionist. That takes a couple years to do and at the moment I have a lot going on.
Q: I thought there was an element to "Hustler's Barely Legal" that was beautiful, where I'd thought it might have been offensive. Why do you think it worked so well?
Allysin: I haven't actually seen that yet.... Why did you think it would be offensive?
Q: I just thought it was going to be exploitive of young girls, but I didn't feel that way. I thought it was shot really nicely...the scenes with you and Bunny Luv, it's really gorgeous how they shot that with the cliff behind you - you should watch it.
Allysin: I totally forgot about that. That's cool. As far as what you were saying about the young girl thing, sometimes a director will ask you to do something that will seem like kind of wrong to me too and I'll tell them, "Hey, I'm not doing that."
Q: Like what?
Allysin: Sometimes when we're taking pictures, if we're doing it at like a house, maybe there's some children's toys laying around and it'll be like, "Well, sit on this," and it's like, "Hey!" - you know? That's a little too far. I don't want to look too, too young. But sometimes even they will be like "No, that hairstyle makes you look way too young." So that's cool.
Q: What are your plans?
Allysin: As soon as I get my boob job, I hope to start featuring, and hopefully do some different projects that I wasn't able to do before. The companies like Vivid and Wicked and even VCA think that I look too young and that's why they don't use me too much, but maybe they will now. [I plan to] just do more magazines, I mean I don't know what really else there is to do. I'm not interested in starting my own company. I know that's what a lot of people do when they get burned out on performing. I think about starting my own clothing store.... I'm just seeing what will happen after [the boob job] cause I know more opportunities will be open to me after I become more versatile with my look.... I also do those more softcore movies that appear on cable. There's more acting involved with those.
Q: Is there something sexual you'd like to explore onscreen that you haven't yet?
Allysin: I do like being with more than one guy at a time. I guess I haven't gotten to do that too much - it's usually two girls on one guy.... Not like a gangbang or anything, I'm not into that.
