Van Damage's Porn Star Biography

An Award Winning Start

Van Damage grew up in Rome, New York and entered the U.S. Army upon graduating from high school. He began his career in the adult industry in 1995 after retiring from the Army. His first project was producing a series of videos featuring local amateur girls in Pacific Beach. Damage's work made a splash immediately and he was rewarded by being nominated by AVN in three different categories his first year on the job. Having solidified his place in the porn world, Damage continued to turn out countless movies.

Career

Beginning in 1997, Damage spent 13 months as a contract director for the then newly formed company called Elegant Angel. He produced 15 movies for that company with garnered him 7 AVN nominations that year and an XRCO win. His time with Elegant Angel was cut short after a wage dispute that came to a head following the 1997 AVN award show in Las Vegas. Damage went on to spend a year directing videos for Extreme Associates. He received several more AVN nominations and another XRCO win for best group sex scene. However, his time with Extreme Associates was also cut short due to a legal battle regarding revenues due to him.

1999 was a slow work year for Damage, having him only direct 2 movies the entire year. And yet he still received 9 AVN, and 3 XRCO nominations for movies he'd directed in previous years but that had just been released. He was being noticed by everyone in the industry for his talent; Adam Film World Magazine's 2000 Yearly Directory quoted: "Van Damage is one of top five directors to watch for in the new millennium."

Striking Out On His Own

Tired of working for other people and ready to move his career forward, Damage formed the production company and website Pagan Pictures in 2000. Pagan's titles are highly praised by trade magazines, especially the initial release of "A Toe Story." Damage's company has also produced award winning movies such as "The Good Whore" and "The Damage Files."

A Happy Man

Being such a busy guy, Damage wasn't married until 2008. Unlike many adult stars, Damage did not marry a fellow porn star. His wife, Cynthia Damage, did not appear in adult films with him while he was still performing. Sadly, Damage retired from performing in 2012, but has continued to produce and direct XXX movies. His wife does appear alongside him in a cameo appearance for "Dirty Queen" as a television anchorwoman. She also appears in a non-sex role in "Three's Company XXX" and "One Last Ride." The couple lives happily in the San Fernando Valley and Van Damage continues to churn out one hit after another.
