Nica Noelle's Biography

Nica Noelle is an actress, director, and writer. She doesn't work exclusively in the adult entertainment industry, but she is certainly a leading figure in the porn community. Noelle began her career at the age of 19, working at a psychodrama house in New York City. Afterward, she became a columnist for underground adult magazines, but soon switched to porn after she began writing for magazines like Spread. Noelle's essays have appeared in Salon, The Huffington Post, and Hustler magazine.

Early in her career as an xxx actress, Noelle performed in lesbian movies for Girlfriends Films. Later, she hooked up with production company Mile High Media and the two founded rival lesbian porn company Sweetheart Video. They also founded straight couples themed brand Sweet Sinner, and Hollywood inspired brand Sweet Sinema. Through November 2011, Noelle was the sole writer and director of every title from each of these companies. She received an AVN Award nomination for Director of the Year in 2010, while Sweetheart Video has also been nominated for, and won, several industry awards.

Toward the end of 2011, Noelle resigned from Mile High Media and signed a new deal with AEBN to create new porn brands Girl Candy Films (lesbian sex), Hard Candy Films (straight), Rock Candy Films (gay), and TransRomantic Films (transgender). Hard Candy Films has since been renamed Hot Candy Films. Regarding her production of lesbian films for Girl Candy Films and formerly with Sweetheart Video, Noelle does not cast "gay for pay" actresses. She insists that the actors must be lesbian or bisexual in real life because she believes that the audience watching lesbian porn wants to see real lesbians on screen, not actresses willing to play for pay. Her dedication to authenticity has made her films stand out among the rest.

Noelle's work in the adult world has not gone unnoticed. She won the 2012 AVN Award for Best New Line for her four adult studios: Girl Candy, Hard Candy, Rock Candy and Transromantic. Her transgender-focused film, "Forbidden Lovers" won the 2013 Feminist Porn Award for Steamiest Romantic Movie.

When she's not busy producing porn, writing for adult magazines, or managing one of her production companies, Noelle is a mainstream journalist, writing on topics ranging from insect behaviors to environmental issues and pop culture trends. She also studies kickboxing and obsesses about the physics of time. Nica Noelle is truly a multi-faceted woman.
